jewels of fall

This view is just outside Elkhart Lake Wisconsin.  Every year in fall this stand of trees are shockingly beautiful.  Sadly, the color doesn't last long.  I set up with my easel and painted from life.  Always an adventure with the clock ticking and this day rain interrupted!  I used my photos and my plein air painting to design and paint this larger version of that day.  I live in a gorgeous place with so much beauty in all seasons.
